Why Can’t I See Highlights on Instagram

  • Internet connection issues – Slow or unstable internet or network connectivity issues can stop Instagram Highlights from loading or showing.
  • Server issues – Sometimes, Instagram experiences temporary glitches or server issues that can affect the availability of certain features. If the servers are down, wait for them to fix it and then try again.
  • Setting-related issue – Maybe you’ve turned off Instagram archives or data saver mode is enabled. Adjusting these settings can resolve the issue.
  • A bug or glitch – From corrupted caches to a bug, anything can cause Instagram Highlights to not load. Resetting the cache and restarting or updating the app can help.

Basic Fixes

  • Turn Airplane Mode on and off – Let’s ensure there are no network connection issues. Toggle Airplane Mode on and off to refresh your device’s network settings. This might help in resolving connectivity issues affecting the loading of Instagram highlights.
  • Check Instagram server status – If Instagram’s server is down, it can lead to such issues. Go to Downdetector , if others are also complaining about the issue, wait for Instagram to fix it.
  • Force quit and reload Instagram – This action can resolve temporary glitches, including highlights not playing. Close the app completely and reopen it to see if the highlights load correctly.
  • Clear Cache – If you are using an Android device, you can try clearing the cache and data for the Instagram app. Notably, your Instagram posts and stories will remain unaffected. But, any files in the Instagram folder on your phone will be removed by clearing data.
  • Update or reinstall Instagram – An outdated app version may have bugs that could be the reason behind Instagram highlights keep disappearing. So, ensure you have the latest version of the Instagram app installed.

Fix 1. Enable Save to Archive

For proper functioning of Instagram highlights, a setting known as ‘Save to archive’ should be enabled. This saves the stories in your archive, which you can later use to add any past story to highlights.

But if it isn’t enabled, you will not be able to use Instagram highlights. To check that, follow these steps:

Step 1 : Launch the Instagram app and go to your profile . Tap the three-bar icon from the top-right corner.

Step 2 : Scroll down and select Archiving and downloading . Next, ensure that the toggle next to ‘ Save story to archive ’ is enabled.

So let’s check and disable the data saver mode to smoothly load your highlights.

Step 1 : Open Instagram and go to your profile . Here, tap the three-line icon from the top right corner.

Step 2 : Scroll down and select Media quality from under ‘your app and media’ section. Next, toggle off ‘ Use less mobile data ’.
