• Clear your browser cache from Google Chrome settings > Privacy and security > Delete browsing data, and retry uploading to Google Photos.
  • Disable extensions from browser Settings > Manage extensions > reopen Google Photos to upload your media.

Common Fixes

  • Check your network connection : Ensure your PC has a good internet connection. I recommend at least 10Mbps to upload photos and videos to Google Photos.
  • Inspect your Google Photos storage : Open Google Photos in your web browser and check the Storage meter in the left sidebar to view the occupied space. If you’ve exhausted storage, delete the uploaded data or upgrade storage with Google One .
  • Use the Google Drive desktop app : If you cannot upload your media to Google Photos via web browser, download the Drive app for your desktop, sign in with your Google account, and retry uploading.

Fix 1: Clear Browser Cache and Retry

A corrupt browser cache is a common reason Google Photos does not upload from a PC. Open browser settings (e.g., Google Chrome) to clear the cache manually and retry uploading.

Step 1: Click the three-dot menu at the top right of Google Chrome and select Settings .

Step 2: Select Privacy and security from the sidebar and click Delete browsing data .

Fix 2: Pause and Resume Syncing in the Google Drive App

If you can’t back up your media to Google Photos using the Google Drive desktop app, a glitch or incorrect configuration might be halting it. Manually pause and resume Google Drive sync to restore its normal functioning.

Step 1: Click the Up arrow at the right end of your Windows taskbar, select the Google Drive icon, and click the Gear icon .

Step 2: Select Pause syncing to stop uploading your photos/videos to Google Photos temporarily.

Step 3: Wait a few seconds and click Resume syncing to resume the Google Photos backup.

Fix 3: Disable Browser Extensions

Lastly, disable browser extensions to fix Google Photos not uploading from your PC. Let’s take Google Chrome for instance.

Step 1: Click the vertical three-dot menu at the top right of Google Chrome, select Extensions , and open Manage Extensions .

Step 2: Toggle off the installed browser extension to disable it. Alternatively, click Remove below an extension to delete it from your browser.
