- While you can use Google Maps to find a halfway point on Google, it’s not that simple or accurate.
- You can calculate halfway points on Google Maps by calculating the midpoint coordinates or measuring the distance between two points and then dividing it.
- The easier way is to use websites like What’s Halfway, Meetways, and Travelmath.
Can You Find Halfway Point Between Two Places on Google Maps
While Google Maps is a pretty deft app, it doesn’t automatically calculate the midpoint between two different addresses. Although there’s a workaround that we can use. So, let’s get going.
Note : While easy, these workarounds only give you a rough estimation of the central location between multiple addresses. That’s because it gives you a midpoint as per coordinates and does not consider road routes, traffic, or any such things.
Method 1: Use Coordinates in Google Maps to Find Midpoint
One of the hacks to calculate the halfway point in Google Maps is to collect the coordinates of the two points. Then, apply some basic maths, i.e., add the latitude and longitude of the two points and divide it by two. The resulting coordinates will give you the midpoint.
Find Midpoint’s Coordinates Using a Mobile App
Step 1 : Launch Google Maps and search for the first location .
Step 2 : Swipe up the information bar from the bottom or drop a pin at the location. From the information bar, long press and copy the coordinates of the location.
Step 3 : Repeat the step 1 and 2 for the second location.

Step 4 : Once you have the coordinates for both the locations, simply do the following,
- Midpoint’s latitude = A’s latitude + B’s latitude divided by 2.
- Midpoint’s longitude = A’s longitude + B’s longitude divided by 2.
Note : As per given example (23.0036505 + 23.0265553)/ 2 = 23.0151029. (72.6011880 + 72.5615430)/2 = 72.5813655. So, the coordinates of the midpoint are 23.0151029, 72.5813655.
Step 5 : Now, copy and paste the new coordinates in Google Maps’s search bar.

Google Maps will instantly show the midpoint as per the coordinates provided. You can zoom in or zoom out as needed. Moreover, you can either drop a pin, add a label, or save the location to it so the midpoint isn’t lost while you’re exploring the surroundings.
Get Coordinates of the Halfway Point via Google Web
Step 1 : Open the Google Maps website on the browser of your choice and login if prompted.
Step 2 : Search for the first location, and right-click at the location to reveal coordinates. Copy and paste these coordinates into a safe place.
Step 3 : Do the same for the second location as well.

Step 4 : Now, add the latitude and longitude of both locations and divide into half . Paste the resultant coordinates in the search bar.
Step 5 : You’ll be instantly guided to the midpoint as per the coordinates provided. Zoom in or out to explore the area to your heart’s content.

Method 2: Measure Distance to Find Midpoint Between Two Addresses In Google Maps
The next method to find the central location is to measure the distance between the two points and then locate the midpoint. And while you can do so on the Google Maps app as well, it is more convenient in the web version.
Use Google Web to Measure Distance Between Two Points
There are two key steps involved here,
- Mark the first and second points.
- Measure the distance between the marked points.
Step 1 : Open your browser and go to the Google Maps website.
Step 2 : Search for the first location. Here scroll through the information on the sidebar and select Add a Label .
Step 3 : Give a name to the label. You’ll see a flag on the location.

Step 4 : Repeat the same for a second location to mark it as well. Now, right-click any of the marked locations and select Measure distance.

Step 5 : Drag the map to the other location and click the flag or label .
Step 6 : Google will draw a line with measurements between the two points. It shows the lateral distance between the two points.

Step 7 : Now. divide the distance in half . Zoom in on the map to the approximate midpoint.
Step 8 : Tap X in the Measure distance prompt at the bottom.

Step 9 : Next, click anywhere on the midpoint , select the address that pops up, and Add a label for later.
Once that is done, you can zoom in or out to explore the area to find what you need.
Find Midpoint via the Google Maps App
Step 1 : Launch the Google Maps app and find the first location on the map.
Step 2 : Here, long press to drop a Pin at the location. Tap the Pin and select Add a label .

Step 3 : Repeat the steps for the second location as well.
Step 4 : Once both the points are labeled, select any one and swipe up the detail window. Here, select Measure distance.
Step 5 : Drag the dotted line to the next location on the map. You can zoom in or out accordingly.
Step 6 : Tap + from the bottom-right corner to add the point.

Step 7 : You’ll see the distance between the two points at the bottom bar. Divide it by two to find the midpoint. (say 8.174/2 = 4.087)
Step 8 : Now, tap undo from the top bar.
Step 9 : Retract or redraw the dotted line to the half distance calculated. You now have the midpoint between the two points on Google Maps.
Step 10 : Observe the location and tap the three-dot icon > Clear > X .

Step 11 : Next, drop a Pin to the location and Add a label or Save it for future reference.

Notably, you can see all labeled points later. To do so, go to the Saved tab from the bottom bar > Labeled .

Tip : If you like hiking or are traveling somewhere around, you can also find elevation on Google Maps for easier understanding of the route.
3 Sites to Find the Halfway Point Between Two Places Quickly
As illustrated above, although finding a halfway point on Google Maps is possible, it’s not that simple. Moreover, you get an approximate answer, not exactly what you want. Thankfully, some websites can help you with that.
1. What’s Halfway – Find the Midpoint of 3 or More Locations
As the name suggests, the platform is specially built to find a central location between multiple addresses. You can use it for casual dates/outings, meetings, or journey planning. And not two places, but it can be used for multiple locations at once.

However, the best part is that you can narrow your search per venue. So, whether it’s accommodation, food & drinks, family-friendly spots, shopping centers, or even transport, all is findable. The platform also lets you search for custom keywords, so you can narrow down the search as much as possible.

3. Travelmath – A Smart Assistance for Planning Your Trip
In the confusing era of girl math and bay math, let’s use Travelmath to uncomplicate your traveling plans. The site is built to help you figure out several variables while making travel plans.

This includes the halfway point, distance, flights, hotels, the closest airport, cost of driving, etc. Although this is more of an intercity or intercountry travel assistance. Thus it might not be able to assist you if you’re looking for specific locations. For that, you can use the other two options.
