• Open the laptop back panel > ensure RAM is seated properly > check monitor is connected to the GPU.
  • Go to Device Manager > Display adapters > right-click display driver > Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
  • Enter the BIOS > Exit tab > select Load Default Settings > select Yes > restart Windows device.

Basic Fixes:

  • Ensure the monitor is turned on: If you’re using an external monitor or if your laptop’s monitor has an external power switch, ensure it is turned on before you start troubleshooting this issue.
  • Check the cables: If you’re using an external monitor with your Windows laptop, ensure all the cables are properly connected. You can also try using a different HDMI cable to ensure there are no issues with the current cable.
  • Restart Windows 11: If your laptop’s display is not working due to a temporary system glitch, restarting your device might help fix it. If you’re unable to access the Start menu, long-press the Power button and wait for your laptop to restart.
  • Check for Windows updates: If you’re able to access the menu options using an external display, install the latest Windows updates at the earliest. This can help resolve software issues that might be preventing your laptop’s display from working properly.

Fix 1: Disconnect All Peripherals

If you have been using external displays or connected your laptop to any other display device, there’s a good chance your laptop is projecting the display to that device. This will make the screen appear blank. So, disconnect all peripherals and unlink your laptop from all wireless display devices. Then, check again.

Fix 2: Ensure RAM Is Seated Properly

Your laptop’s RAM can cause display issues. This is especially the case if you have recently upgraded or changed the RAM on your Windows laptop. If so, open the back cover and ensure the RAM is properly seated in the designated slot. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Flip your laptop and keep it on a soft surface. Use the relevant screwdriver to carefully open all the screws .

Once done, put the back cover and snap it into place. Screw the back cover and flip the laptop. Then, turn it on again to check.

Fix 3: Ensure Monitor Is Connected to the GPU (Not the Motherboard)

If you have recently made changes to your laptop’s hardware, reconnecting the wrong wire can cause certain components to not work. In this case, use the abovementioned steps to pop your laptop’s back open and ensure the monitor cable is connected to the GPU port and not the motherboard.

Note: Connect your Windows device to an external display and, if you’re able to see the laptop screen, continue with the below-mentioned steps.

Fix 4: Update Display Drivers

Out-of-date drivers can cause your laptop’s display to not work properly with the newest Windows version. To ensure this is not the case, follow the below steps to check and, if available, install the latest display driver updates on your Windows device.

Step 1: Open Device Manager and click on Display adapters . Right-click the display driver and click on Update driver .

Step 2: Click on Search automatically for drivers . Wait for your device to search and install driver updates.

Fix 5: Reset BIOS

If the issue persists, you can reset the BIOS on your Windows 11 laptop. This can help correct any action that went wrong once you powered your laptop on. To do this, enter the BIOS on your Windows laptop and follow the below steps.

Step 1: Use the keyboard to go to the Exit tab. Go down to Load Default Settings and press enter to select the option.

Step 2: Go to the Yes option and press enter to select it.
