• A weak signal can cause BeReal woes. If you’re using cellular data, switch to Wi-Fi. Additionally, restart your device and try again.
  • To resolve potential conflicts, clear the BeReal app cache (Settings > Apps > BeReal > Storage > Clear Cache).
  • Ensure you’re running the latest BeReal version. Check for updates in your app store.

Note : All the fixes mentioned in the article work on Android and iOS devices, with a few exceptions, which we have highlighted in the specific methods. For demonstration, we will use Android devices.

Preliminary Fixes

  • Restart the app and phone : Restarting BeReal is the quickest way to fix an issue with the app not working. The app can be closed and cleared from the running task or background. Once it is cleared, try restarting the app.
  • Checking the internet connection : If the BeReal feed is not loading or you can’t post on BeReal, check your Internet connection. To verify, open your preferred browser on any device connected to the same internet connection and access any website (e.g., Google).
  • Check BeReal servers : Server outages or maintenance can disrupt the app’s functionality. To verify if the servers are down, visit the BeReal status page , their official social media channels, or a reliable third-party service like Downdetector .
  • Turn off the VPN : Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) can sometimes interfere with the app’s ability to connect to its servers, leading to problems such as slow performance, failed uploads, or inability to log in. So, disable the VPN.
  • Update the BeReal app : BeReal regularly releases updates to fix bugs and enhance performance. To update the BeReal app, visit the App Store or Play Store—and check for available updates.

Fix 1: Grant Camera Permission

Whenever an application lacks proper permissions to perform certain features, it will change its behavior and fail. BeReal is no exception. Follow the below-mentioned steps.

Note : We already have an article on how to enable or disable app permissions on Android , which you can refer to. If you’re an iPhone user, follow the below steps.

Step 1 : Open the Settings on your iPhone, scroll down to find and tap on BeReal .

Step 2 : Under the Allow BeReal to Access section, turn on the toggle for Camera .

There you go. You have now enabled camera permissions for BeReal to capture images. This should solve the issue that prevents you from posting on BeReal.

Fix 2: Clear BeReal App Cache

Step 1 : Launch the BeReal app on your Android or iOS device. Once opened, tap on your profile picture or initials at the top right.

Step 2 : From your profile, tap the three-dot icon at the top right.

Step 3 : From the Settings screen, go to Other . On the next screen, tap Clear cache .

Once the cache is cleared, close and restart the app. Any issues you were facing on BeReal should be resolved.

Fix 3: Logout and Re-Login to the App

Step 1 : Launch the BeReal app on your Android or iOS device.

Step 2 : Once opened, tap on your profile picture or initials at the top right.

Step 3 : Tap the three-dot icon at the top right.

Step 4 : In the Settings screen, scroll to the bottom and tap the Log out button.

Step 5 : In the pop-up, choose Confirm to log out of the BeReal app.

After you have logged out, clear the app instance from the background, restart the app and follow the instructions to log in. Once you log back in, the pertinent issues should be resolved.

Fix 4: Uninstall and Reinstall the App

If none of the above methods worked, you might need to uninstall and reinstall the app.

Step 1 : Tap the Settings app on your Android device > scroll down and tap on Apps or App Management .

Step 2 : Under App management, tap on App list > choose BeReal .

Step 3 : In the App info screen, tap Uninstall > OK to confirm.

There you go. You have successfully uninstalled BeReal. After restarting your device, reinstall BeReal on your Android and iOS devices.

A user can control the visibility of content on BeReal by tweaking settings and privacy preferences. If specific profiles or posts aren’t visible, it might be due to privacy settings or restricted content.
