• If your Android phone is not receiving texts from your iPhone, check the network connection first. To resolve the issue, try enabling/disabling Airplane mode or switching to LTE.
  • Next, reset network settings on your Android to resolve glitches or errors.
  • You should also de-register your number from iMessage to receive SMS on the Android device without hiccups.

Why Is My Android Phone Not Receiving Texts From an iPhone?

Android devices and iPhones use different protocols for sending messages. While the iPhone uses iMessage, the Android uses RCS. Both of these platforms aren’t compatible with each other. So, if you switched from an iPhone to an Android and are not receiving texts, it could be that the texts are not being sent as SMS messages.

Another reason for the error could be poor network connectivity or an issue with the messaging app on your Android device. No matter the issue, this guide will help you fix it.

Basic Troubleshooting

  • Toggle Airplane mode on and off – This resolves any network-related problem that might hamper your SMS services.
  • Switch to LTE if 5G connectivity is low – If 5G is not properly working on your device, switch to LTE. This might stabilize the connection and resolve the issue.
  • Check Spam folder – Most SMS apps on Android have an in-built spam filter. Maybe the messages are being flagged as spam. So, check your spam folder to see if important messages were moved.
  • Re-add your phone number for group chats – Switching phones may have pushed you out of existing group chats. While you can’t join the iMessage groups, ask your friends to invite you to other groups.

Fix 1. Reset Network Settings

If the basics haven’t worked in your favor, reset the network settings on your Android phone. This will ensure that any network setting that prevents incoming texts will be overridden. Here’s how to do the same:

Step 1: Open the Settings app. (We’re using a Samsung Galaxy phone for illustration.)

Step 2: Tap the Search icon . Next, type Reset to find the relevant results.

Step 3: Select Reset network settings .

Step 4: Tap the Reset network settings option once again. Then, choose Reset settings .

Once done, restart your device for extra measure. Now, test if you’re receiving SMS or not.

Fix 2. Disable iMessage From Your Phone Number (iPhone)

If you have an iPhone with iMessage registered on the same phone number as your Android phone, you may face issues receiving texts on the latter. Hence, disabling iMessage for this phone number via your iPhone is wise. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on the iPhone. Scroll to the Messages option.

Step 2: Tap on Send & Receive.

Step 3: Choose the phone number you’re using on your Android phone. When a prompt appears, select Remove .

Fix 3. Deregister Your Phone Number From iMessage

The above method applies if you use an iPhone and an Android device simultaneously. However, if you switched to Android from an iPhone and forgot to disable iMessage on your number, there is an alternative method to fix it.

Step 1: Visit Apple’s official portal for deregistering your phone number from iMessage.

Step 2: Scroll down to the No longer have your iPhone? section > enter your phone number with your country code.

Enter phone number - 5

Step 3: Now, click on Send Code .

send code - 6

Step 4: Wait for the code to arrive on your phone number. Enter it and click on Submit .

enter and submit code - 7

After that, Apple will deregister your phone number from iMessage.

Fix 4. Disable RCS on Android

Google recently introduced its messaging standard, RCS, to rival iMessage. Sometimes, messages sent from an iPhone do not show up on your Android device because they were sent from a device that doesn’t support RCS.

So, disable RCS on Android and check if you can receive texts from an iPhone. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open the Messages app > tap on the three-dot menu to bring up Preferences.

Step 2: Select Settings .

Step 3: Choose Chat Features > turn off the toggle for Enable chat features .
